The son of an Army officer, Gary was born in Alabama and raised all over the U.S. and Europe. After graduating from Ringling School of Art he settled in Charlotte, NC and began his illustration career. Gary’s work, grounded in a basic ability to draw and a creative sense of color, continues to evolve exhibiting a variety of styles and mediums.
Gary’s work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens, Traditional Home, Country Gardens, Renovation Style, Texas Monthly, Ducks Unlimited and Wildlife North Carolina. He has illustrated books for Sleeping Bear Press, Meredith Books, Reader’s Digest Books, Storey Publishing and Rutledge Hill Press.
Advertising and corporate clients include Home Depot, AT&T, Lowe’s, IBM, Disney, BASF, Glaxo, Transamerica, Black and Decker, Homelite, US Air, Westinghouse, Wrangler, BB&T, Duke Energy, Cummins, Bank of America, Ingersol Rand and Celestial Seasonings.
His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Print Magazine, The New York Art Director’s Club, AIGA and American Advertising Federation Addy awards.
Gary’s business has expanded to include fine art commissions some of which include portraits, architectural renderings and wildlife art.
